WHAT IS LOW-E?
Low-E (Low emissivity) is a microscopic transparent coating of metallic oxides that are applied to a glass pane. Low-E glass helps reduce the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light that flows through your windows. Natural light still comes through the windows, unimpeded, so you never notice a difference in the aesthetic value of all that light. Low-E coating protects your furniture, floor and carpets from fading and helps protect you from the harmful UV rays. It also helps reflect the interior temperatures back into your home, instead of letting the warm air flow out through the window. It keeps your house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

How it works?
The glass is coated with a microscopically thin, optically transparent layer of silver sandwiched between layers of anti-reflective metal oxide coatings. A protective coating is applied to assure durability and long life. The coating is virtually invisible to the eye – it’s just like looking through clear glass. Low-E coating is virtually clear, blocking the heat and reducing solar gain while optimizing light transmission. This helps to reduce electrical loads while protecting interior furnishings from UV damage.
